I have a 16 foot aluminum Semi-V hull knockabout. My outboard is a 15 HP. I'm wanting a trolling motor and wondering how big of one I would need. I'll use it mostly for lake fishing and perchance some on a medium size slow moving river.

40 HP or less. Block to see if you have a weight label on the boat. Should give you max Hp plus max weight/people.
A lot will depend on what year it was made, the newer ones can hilt larger motors.
