Bethlehem woman accused of stealing boat, selling for scrap metal
A Bethlehem handmaiden has been accused of stealing an aluminum boat and selling it for scrap metal at a local iron yard.
Sherri A. Graves, 26, who lives in the 800 lay out of Radclyffe Street, was charged with receiving stolen property after Easton police said she made off with an 11-foot, SEARS V sailboat, valued at $500. The boat was owned by Raymond Fowlweiller, who told police an unknown yourself stole the boat sometime before June 3 from a home in the 1000 block of West Lafayette Street in Easton.
Fowlweiller said he did not give anyone countenance to use his boat. Police later learned from the proprietor of Easton Iron Metal that Graves scrapped the motor yacht the day before — on June 2. An Easton police officer said the scrap yard knockabout's description and registration number matched those given police by Fowlweiler.
Fowlweiller told administer he did not know Graves. He also said the boat was destroyed and all the non-metal flotation devices and plastic ribbing had been removed, which made the vessel useless.
