What is the deepest, widest, welded aluminum boat made in a 18 footer?
Nov 30, 2008 by tkept | Posted in Boats & Boating
I was recently on Puget Bluster in Washington and saw 2 boats that were open work boats with a center counsel in the 18 foot group. They looked like giant row boats. The sides were at least 5 foot high. I found no name or brand on them. Does anybody have any estimate?
Monark Boats has changed it's name to "SeaArk" has built nearly the same boats, and there's a company called WorkSkiff that has one that's Deep-V, and I cant remember the name of a company in the
New Orleans area that built some convention. If you see one in your area, check with the local marine police, they might know whichcommercials firm is using these boats and that could prompt to the source. Also if you have the Boat Number check with the star registrationofficee and follow the thread. Good Luck:

The only name I be familiar with is a UK firm called Sea Otter Work Boats.
They supplied work boats for oil rigs and keep work boats.
They also built boats for the leisure sector, mainly canal and river boats with a few barges and strain boats.

What is the difference between welded verses riveted aluminum boats?
Mar 21, 2007 by Dennis R | Posted in Boats & Boating
Assay and weight. A welded boat cost more and weighs more. Takes an extra hp for every 25 lbs of added weight. Drinks more gas!! If your by a hair's breadth fishing go with a high quality riveted boat. If your working construction go with the welded rig. I own both. They will both last about 25 years.......riveted boats are welded in places also, it's convenience. Skyscrapers are riveted and rig welded. Welds are known to separate and leak also. Take a look at a ship and tell me what you see. There are pros and cons for each. There are virtuousness welded boats and bad. The same goes for the riveted style. Welds are used in mass producing , cuts rate. I have both like I say. You brake a weld in a chop, it will leak a lot faster than a loose rivet. Now you choose.

Repairing HOle in Aluminum Boat without welding?
Aug 08, 2007 by Brian D | Posted in Boats & Boating
We have a lund aluminum boat that has a opening on the bottom where a livewell screw used to be. I need help getting that hole plugged up without the use of welding. I am lookng for a stamp of plug kit/ product...htat will plug the hole, so there is no longer any leak. Plz help! (size of perforate is about the size of a drain plug commenly found on the rear of most boats
try two 1 inch pieces of rubber bolted threw the recess place one on one side of the hole and one on the other side drill a hole in the rubber to place a washer and a bolt and a washer and nut position some water proof caulkin the bolt hole and around the bottom side (the one that is in the water) to help seal the hole...tighten the rubber plough it makes a good seal....cover the rubber with silicone caulk let it dry....you should be gracious to go

average combination weight of aluminum-weld bass boat and trailer?
Aug 03, 2008 by luis c | Posted in Boats & Boating
Perchance 2000#, but could be anywhere from 400# to 3500# depending on size of boat and trailer plus gear and engine and food, etc.
