Most honest deals are found in your own backyard, or rather a neighbors backyard. I found one of my first boats that way. Rode by it about 500 times before I noticed it never moved, lately sitting there aging more every day. If you notice one like this, just stop by and ask the owner if they are interested in selling it. But online, I scout Craigslist routine for a deal.

Aluminum Fishing Boat Question...?
Sep 19, 2008 by Sean G | Posted in Boats & Boating
I'm looking to hold a used 14ft aluminum fishing boat...
The boat and trailer were first purchased in 1977.
The evinrude motor and mercury electric trolling motor were first purchased in 1979.
I'm purchasing from the indigenous owner... everything has been garage kept.
All that being said... Should I be concerned with the age of the boat? motor? trolling motor? trailer?
What would you deem a fair offer for such a boat?
You should not be caring about the age of the boat and motor. The trolling motor maybe okay, but they do not hold up as well, but if it fails while you are out fishing you can still get home. The trailer should be method worthy - good tires, lights.
Value for such a package - depends. I would think a fair value would be $1000 to $1500. End of the boating/ fishing year makes for passable deals, so maybe a little less.
Good Luck and Boat Safe !

how to repair a leaking aluminum boat?
Oct 17, 2006 by Shannon | Posted in Boats & Boating
chagrined, aluminum fishing boat, has sprung a leak, what's the best material to use for repair?
OK Shannon here's the distribute. If It is a riveted boat you can take a sledge hammer and lay it on one side of the rivet and take a second hammer and smack the opposite side for a quick fix and squish, no more leaky rivet. If it is a mistake you can use aluminium JB weld, if used properly, and that will give you a temporary fix in till you can take it in and get a plate migged on. If you do, make sure they up off the edges. We've had the JB cold weld last all season, if your short on cash. Fiberglas does not line, it never did. Hope this helps.

zodiac, aluminum, or fiberglass fishing/pleasure use 12-16 foot boat?
Nov 17, 2007 by _______ | Posted in Boats & Boating
im getting a boat for fishing and fitting to drive around for fun, for teh engine im going to get a 40 pount thrust electric motor and for casual use ill get a 40 - 50 horse power gas motor. But should i go got a zodiac, aluminium or fiberglass, im not to assured about fiberglass and i kind of want aluminum because they are indrustractable but i also go crabbing and want to take my boat into the ocean so i want something like a zodiac so i wont tip does anyone have knowledge of what i should go for
Aluminium is fantabulous for towing as it is light.
Fibreglass rides better and handles better.
Zodiacs are a compromise and can be uninflated to put into aeroplanes.
Depends on what you neediness.
