Police Blotter: Burning Embers Blamed in Garage Fire
Smoldering embers thrown in the refuse before they were totally out are to blame for a two-car detached garage fire battled by Grosse Pointe Park firefighters June 19. Crews were called to the fire valid after midnight June 19 to find flames from the ground crawling up to the eaves, troughs and overhang of the garage. Crews doused the fire, which was in a corner of the garage.
Wary Youth Warned
Grosse Pointe Park police issued warnings to four Detroit inexperienced men ranging in age from 12 to 19 after they were spotted in the backyard of a home in the 700 block of Whittier Route June 15. Police received a suspicious persons report about the youth being in the backyard and responding officers found them walking from the whereabouts. Officers stopped them, gathered their identification information and released them with a warning. They did not provide a reason for being in the backyard, according to a story.
