It might be a opportune idea for added protection for the bottom of your boat, I have seen some people with a roll on bed liner in their truck and despite the roughest choke they have thrown in their truck box, nothing scratches these liners so go ahead give it a try.

It might resist for impacts and scrapes but I'm not sure how well it will stick to the aluminum. I'd suggest you ask the bed liner industrialist for their advice.

boat is aluminum - reliability is #1 - envirement is #2 - new? utilized? are the brands mostly the same? i'm using the boat on a river - not much traffic - but some barge traffic. paul in chicago
a 15ft alum boat should finger up to 40 hp or so. there should be a plate on the boat somewhere that gives both the loading and hp data. usually on the transom. a lot depends on what you plan to do with the boat and how much you foist to spend. any of the major OB manufacturers have fine products. by major i would say johnston, evenrude, mercury, honda, yamaha. any of these will give respectable and long service. there are others that are less common or cheaper that may work as well but they are not yet established as well yet. force, tihaso, and others. i would pick one that has a creditable strong local base of dealers ans servicemen in your area. 2 cyc vs 4 cyc- you pay more up front for 4 cyc and the engine is more complacated but they run cleaner and have speculator fuel economy and may troll better. also no oil to mix. 2 cyc are simpler and perhaps more reliable as well as cheaper to buy.
4cyc is cleaner. i have never bought a new OB and have had A-OK luck with used so far. new is expensive- 2X good used or more. is your boat equipted with a wheel and engine controls of is it tiller herd? you may have trouble finding a used tiller control OB over 25hp but if you are not planning on long runs or heavy loads 25 may be enought. first-class start is nice but it complacates things and again may be hard to find used in smaller sized motors. e-despatch me with more details and perhaps i can offer better advice

i infatuation fishing and want to be able to get into the lake;
my house isn't that big so i was planning on getting something that is 12' want. So do you suggest getting a raft or a aluminum boat?
what brands are good for rafts? aluminum boats? also what horsepower should i get, i would be going fishing with my two sons, and they are about 160 pounds each.. how capable should the motor be?
any other advice would be helpful thanks.
I live in san francisco, california, so if you are around this area, please let me know of some shops? i programme on going to the delta area or sacremento river
I was booming to suggest something with a shallow draft. But with the three of you, maybe a "Boston Whaler" would be a better boat. You get a ton of slack off on and water gets plenty choppy. You need something that will keep you out on the water safely. Although I have not been in the bay area in many years, I over a Google Map search for Marine supplies and Boats would give you many places to shop.
I think you want a abstruse draft hull with built in flotation. It would likely give you greater comfort, storage and stability. It would be heavier and may extremity a trailer, but I think you would be happier with that type of boat.
I hope you and your boys have a lot of fun together. Good luck and good fishing.
