I recently aquered a 12 aluminum V-shuck. and the rear seat by the transome is a normal perpendicular seat like all the others, but i want to cut it to be two seperate seats, you know, one on each side of the back of the boat as an alternative of all the way across.
Please give a walk through of steps on how this is done, and make sure to incude all minor details, but any help is appshiated.
\ Thanks ,
Notch
The seat is there for intestinal fortitude that is needed to maintain the boats structural strength and contains foam for flotation purposes.- Don't do it.

first you have to see how its united to the hull rivets? drill them out remove seat and do what you want to with it

Beat a hasty retreat: DON"T. I understand what you want to do, but this isn't a good idea. Most Aluminum boats the seats as structural part of the body. This is needed for lateral force and strength. Even if you removed it, you would need a crossbeam in the same location.

Dontcha liking it when you ask "how do I", and the answer that comes back is "don't"?
Sorry to have to tell ya this, but the guy's redress, that seat is there for structural integrity.
Not to mention which, it probably contains the floatation foam that will keep you afloat should your boat ever get swamped.
Rhythm for plan B.

I am trying to put swivel bases so i can put a boat seat on my 14' alumunim boat?

I have a 14' aluminum boat and the have like bench seats across the boat and its merely sheet metal with foam underneath.....so there is no way to use a bolt and nut....what kind of screws or bolts do i sine qua non to use to bolt the swivel bases where the will not pull out???
I don't like to exercise a hole in any part of a boat if I can avoid it - as it is just another water entry point and potential failure point. If I am prospering to do so I want to use duralac or similar to avoid any corrosion issues with the stainless self tappers (abbreviated 8 or 6 guage round heads will be good - the larger the better within reason) and bed the mount on sikaflex as an additional indemnity against water entry and movement.
I like the mechanical advantage of a base frame mounted over the existing bench seat, maybe using welded tabs vertically front and rear so the forces against the screws are shear rather than direct pulling - very authoritative and strong done well. The wider the base, within reason, the better for strength, as wide as the existing seat is across is probably about spot on.
I have seen clamp type seat bases and they seemed quite robust and firm, I would perhaps be tempted to use a little sikaflex as added perception insurance - you really do not want a seat to come adrift in a boat as it can be very painful - or worse.
Any frame you make up should have all possible sharp bits and corners cut off and well rounded. It is surprising how soft we humans get when wet, we slice up and tear rather easily so this is very important.
Good luck!

do the seats in a aluminum boat, support the boat itself can you cut them out?

The seats also act as a structural men and should not be cut out unless you will be replacing them with a simmilar brace.

Adding fishing seat to row boat

I have a unoriginal aluminum row boat which I use for fishing. It currently has three bench seats and I am wondering if there is any way to attach swivel seats to those original bench seats?
Got a' 14' Jon boat with bench seats and have the gimbal clamp on type (link) on the Bow (front) and the Stern (rear) of it. Don't have ta' necessarily go with Cabela's ~ the MS's was tellin' me she saw the same ones (Whitish not Camo) at Walmart for a lot less ;)... < ' ( (( > <

Note: Might add, they stay on real good and can be removed easily...
Added: This is what the mountin' category looks like...
