Perkins' hunting party bags 650-pound gator
Photos of fishing and hunting trips with his kinsfolk and friends decorate the walls of Jon Perkins' office at CDG Engineers & Associates in Albertville, where he works as a out manager.
"I love the outdoors," Perkins said. "I try to spend as much time as I can outside hunting and fishing."
Perkins likes to tracking down deer, squirrels and rabbits, and he can add alligators to the list of game he's taken in the wild.
On Aug. 27, Perkins and his social gathering of Brandon Allen, Austin Allen, Luke Stafford and Trent Weaver caught a 12-foot, 4-inch dream of alligator that weighed 650 pounds during a state-sanctioned hunt on Lake Eufaula.
"It was a fair big adventure," said Perkins, who lives just off Sand Mountain on Alabama Highway 227 in DeKalb County.
A ‘extortionate learning curve'
Perkins received a tag to hunt alligators from the Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Conflict of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
